Herbicides and insecticides used to control weeds and flies,
respectively, can create a clean and neat environment around
the premises. These chemicals must be used in a fashion
that does not induce a residue problem or create other
environmental damage. A careful producer will take the time
to realize where run-off will accumulate if a rain follows
application. These chemicals can be highly persistent; it
only takes a small amount to cause a residue problem that
can be easily detected at slaughter.
