Proper
use of insecticides includes removal of old insecticide ear
tags as well as following label directions for pour-on's,
injectables, dusts, sprays and other types of insecticides.
Failure to do any of the above may result in contamination
of the animal by-products. This may lead to harmful, if not
deadly, residue problems in pet foods as well as in other
by-product materials. By products constitute 12 percent of
the value of slaughter cattle. Handlers should be cognizant
of this value while processing incoming cattle or when
individual treatments take place.
