Section
5 - Suggested Procedures
|
|
| |
-
Treatment
regimes should comply with label directions unless
otherwise prescribed by a licensed veterinarian.
-
Extra-label drug use should be kept to a minimum and
only used when prescribed by a licensed veterinarian
with a veterinarian-client-patient relationship.
(Section 9)
-
All
animals treated with medications administered extra
label should be properly identified and shall comply
with prescribed withdrawal times or be subjected to an
appropriate test prior to slaughter.
-
All
animals being individually treated should be identified
by a permanent tag which has reference to date of
treatment. Nursing calves need not be individually
identified, the withdrawal time can or will be applied
to the whole group.
-
All
animals treated will be recorded individually stating
drugs administered, dosage used, and earliest date
cattle can be sold and still observe withdrawal times.
-
All
treated animals scheduled for slaughter should be
checked by facility personnel to assure that those
animals have met label or prescription withdrawal times
of medications administered.
