RECORDING FEEDSTUFF INVENTORY
SD BQA/CMP
Form 410 (Incoming Feedstuff Inventory Record) is an example form that can be utilized for
recording incoming feedstuff inventory.
Tables
4-1 through 4-6 provide approved pesticides and herbicides for
various crops grown for feed, together with withdrawal times
and grazing requirements.
SUSPECT FEEDSTUFFS MUST BE TESTED AND APPROPRIATE ACTION
TAKEN.
1)
Purchase feed from known reputable suppliers. Ask
them if they have used any pesticide or additive in or on
the feed, especially during or for storage.
2)
Inspect before unloading. It is often useful to be
present when unloading starts to check the first bit of
feed. If the wagon or trailer was not completely emptied
prior to filling, material from the previous load will be
unloaded first.
3)
If the feedstuff appears abnormal, do not
accept it. If you decide to accept it anyway then store it
in a remote location and take samples. Consult with an
appropriate person before using the feed.
4)
Maintain good records that minimally include
manufacturer, lot number, and product name for purchased
manufactured feeds. For commodity feeds record commodity
type (i.e. corn, hay, etc.), date received, amount received,
seller and place stored or unloaded.
