The goal
of the South Dakota Beef Quality Assurance/Critical
Management Plan Program is to ensure the consumer that all
cattle marketed by a SD BQA/CMP certificed producer are
wholesome and safe with management practices meeting FDA,
USDA, and EPA standards.
To meet
the goal, the program has outlined these objectives:
1) To
establish a recognized symbol of confidence in the safety of
South Dakota beef.
2) To
develop a verifiable system to enhance South Dakota beef
producers ability to market their product.
3) To
produce meat that is free of violative chemical
contaminants.
4) To
minimize carcass blemishes.
5) To
provide acceptable levels of animal care and well being.
6) To
keep and maintain proper records of BQA/CMP practices.
7) To
provide the consumer with the best product that can be
produced.
